This club is one of the largest fishing clubs in South East Queensland with a current membership of over 300 members. We boast of a junior membership of 45 who are all keen fishing people. The club is based at the Hervey Bay Boat Club, Buccaneer Avenue Urangan.
The club conducts both fishing and social events. Some of the social events are our cruises for charity in the waters of Hervey bay, bus trips, a Christmas party and presentation night. We donate part of our fundraising events to Cancer fund, Red Shield appeal and Fish Stocking Association. We have now taken on part sponsorship of the VMR Rescue Boat.
The committee meet on the 2nd Monday of each month. The club fishing competition is conducted once a month usually the first weekend of the month with a weigh-in on the Sunday at 2pm followed by a sausage sizzle at Boat Club compound. We conduct an inner club fishing competition with the Power Boat Squadron called THE JACK CAIN Trophy. The Salt Water intra club competition is well attended with all clubs in the district fishing. New members are most welcome for a $5.00 per year membership fee you must also be a member of the Boat Club. For further information contact the Secretary.
The club conducts a major fishing competition each year in March with approximately $40,000.00 in prizes this is a competition not to be missed. The 2009 comp saw an increase of 97 entries for further information on entering this competition please download the entry form and comp rules. The major sponsor for the junior in the comp is ULTRATUNE Urangan. TackleWorld are another major sponsor and this year we will have extensive coverage from WIN TV. The boat that we give away on the Sunday is a very big draw card it is valued at approx $12,000.00. Remember you must be there to collect any prizes.
